2010

..and boy! do we have some great classes. Put these on your calendar! (Updated 1/5/10)

REGISTER for your favorite classes online now!

CLICK HERE for your registration form.

You'll notice that below our new classes we list some of our past offerings. If the class you'd love isn't on our current list, let us know. And if it isn't on any list here, please suggest it to us. The Arts Center loves to present great ideas of all kinds.

Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Our registration deadlines are usually the week before the class is scheduled (except when special materials must be ordered.) This is the date by which we must have a minimum number of students in order for the class to run. After that point, students are accepted until the class is filled.

SO COME ON IN!

While you may be able to "walk in" to a class, it is always best to call first, to make sure materials are available for you. Some classes encourage walk-ins; this is noted in the class descriptions. Our Discovery Classes are designed for high school age and older.

Photography Workshop

from 1 to 3 p.m.

This special photography workshop is designed to lead participants of all ages through the process of “seeing and selecting” an image and then re-visioning it in another photograph. Resulting work will be displayed here at the Bonifas within the current photography exhibit, Converging In-Sight. The three photographers from that show will guide participants through a field workshop, inviting them to photograph sites within the vicinity of the Arts Center, including neighborhoods, the downtown and park districts. This "point and shoot" session will offer a rediscovery of familiar environs* and a landscape photography guide of do's and don'ts.

Students will learn to be open to multiple perspectives of the same site and thus develop multiple images of the same subject matter that reflect the possibilities of viewpoint. Then they may select two favorite images to mat for presentation. Finished work will be hung as part of the exhibition in a "re-visioning section." In this way, the exhibition does not separate artist and viewer but invites interaction and thereby extends to the community in a personal and unique way. All ages are welcome. Participants must bring a digital camera. Bonifas will provide a universal reader for students who would like to print their images here.

Members $16; non-members $20.

*Sponsored in part by the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority

Workshop Notes: for printing options:  Bonifas will use universal reader

       Will print to 5 x 7 mounted on 6 x 8 matt boards
