MInternational touring group Missoula Children’s Theatre brings its “little red truck” to the Bonifas Arts Center beginning June 15 2009, for a week of theater aimed at students. It all begins with auditions for The Pied Piper, an original musical based on the familiar tale, on Monday at 10 a.m. It continues with rehearsals and free theater workshops, and concludes with performances on Saturday, June 20, at 3 and 7 p.m. The directors make casting decisions quickly, and some of the students who are cast will be needed to rehearse Monday afternoon after a half-hour lunch break. Rehearsal schedules are passed out to all actors on Monday. Students need to be available for all rehearsals, set for Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., although they may not need to be at all sessions. If you’re not cast in the show, note the free “How to Audition: Theater 101” workshop with Cindy Bender beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, to help you with next year’s audition. All students are also welcome at free Theater workshops set for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons at 3 p.m. You need not be involved in the production to participate in workshops. As in past years, there is no charge to participate in the program. Tickets for performances are available for $7. MCT is sponsored by Players de Noc and CUPPAD, through a regrant of funds from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.
