Barn Restoration Workshop

Saturday, July 31, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Bonifas Arts Center
$20 each or $15 per additional family member, includes lunch

Learn to appreciate, preserve and adapt historic barns. This workshop features a panel of experts who will share information on everything from techniques and materials to tax credits and financing. Presenters include Steve Stier, a Michigan licensed builder specializing in Historic Preservation and traditional construction methods and materials; Vera Wiltse, President of the Michigan Barn Preservation Network; author Jan Corey Arnett; and Brenda Laakso, Site Historian at Fayette Historic State Park. Support for this workshop was provided by the Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Barn Preservation Network.

This program is a part of the Bays de Noc Rural Roots Project, which is funded by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Partners in this project are the Bonifas Arts Center, The Delta County Agricultural Heritage Committee, the Michigan State University Extension Office, faculty from the Hannahville Indian Community's Nah Tah Wahsh School, local public school districts, the Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds, the Delta County Historical Society and the Delta County Chamber of Commerce.
