Barn Dance & Barbecue

The Bays de Noc Rural Roots Project kicks off with live music and dancing at the Bonifas Arts Center on Friday, July 16 from 7 to 11 p.m. Enjoy a hearty barbecue meal and get a little contra dancing lesson from 7 to 8 p.m. Music will be provided by traditional string band Fog Harbor from 8 to 10 p.m.

In the spirit of traditional barn-raising dances, this event is designed to be a family-friendly dance for beginners and those with some contra dance experience. Dance caller Dan Gorno will lead the way and provide simple instruction.

Tickets are $15 each, $10 for age 12 and under, ages three and under are free. Tickets are available at the Bonifas Arts Center, Gust Asp and at the door.

This program if supported by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council. Additional sponsorship provided by the Upper Peninsula Power Company. Proceeds benefit the Bonifas Arts Center.
