Carol Irving, with the winning piece
"Desert Jewel". |
The Northern Exposure exhibit has returned to the Bonifas Arts Center Gallery in Escanaba.
Exhibit Juror Gijsbert van Frankenhuyzen said of the 76 pieces in this 13th annual exhibit, “I am impressed with the diversity of art this show has to offer. Folks visiting the gallery will enjoy a variety of mediums used in very creative ways.”
vanFrankenhuyzen also spoke of the artists’ ..”quality, technique, creativity and passion..”
“I think that’s easy to see,” said Kathryn Morski for the Bonifas. “This show is all Upper Peninsula artists, and it’s alive with color, shape and texture. There is a piece for every person to relate to in this year’s Northern Exposure.”
Seventeen prizes were awarded at the opening reception November 11, ranging from the $500 First Prize to feature articles in area publications to “purchase prizes” from Bay de Noc Community College, (purchases for the college’s permanent collection.)
