Area residents are invited to enjoy the annual Youth In Art exhibit at the Bonifas Arts Center from March 6 through March 27, featuring selected works of student artists through high school age.
Sponsored annually by NewPage, the show offers area students the chance not only to display their art in a professional gallery, but to win awards. Prizes will be awarded at the Artists’ Receptions set for three Thursday evenings at the Center.
Awards will be given in 2008 by the Bonifas Fine Arts Center, Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District, Escanaba Noon Kiwanis, Bay Area Arts Association, NewPage, and the Escanaba chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. Bonifas winners are also featured on the Center’s website, www.bonifasarts.org, and on postcards available for purchase in the Kasota Sales Gallery (7th Avenue entrance).
Reception for Kindergarten through 3rd grade artists is 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 6. Receptions for grades 4 through 6 and Junior/Senior High students are Thursday, March 13, and Thursday, March 20, respectively, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Music for the receptions will be furnished by students of Karen Pratt. They are: March 6 Danny Pederson; March 13 Lydia Ryan, Makenzie Hayes, Madelyn Cseter; March 20 Amy Ryan, Bethany Pederson, Caitlyn Lung.
Free tours of Youth In Art are available through March 27. To schedule, or for more information, call Beth Ann or Corinne at 786-3833.
There is no fee to visit the Gallery or to attend receptions. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
