Food for the Soul by Ingrid Blixt and the Oasis Curators' Show

Two new exhibits are featured at the Bonifas Arts Center in April. Food for the Soul by Ingrid Blixt and the Oasis Curators’ Show will be on display through April 25.

Blixt is a Romanian-born artist who lives in Escanaba and whose work has been featured in shows throughout the region. Her one-woman show Manifestations of the Sacred was featured at the Arts Center in 2005. This exhibit returns to her masterful graphite pieces and Byzantine icons, but adds multi-media works and encaustic painting as well.

The Oasis Curators’ Show spotlights the curators of Marquette’s Oasis Gallery. Works in many media from artists with strikingly different styles and viewpoints offer something to engage every viewer. The show will feature works from sculptor Wayne Francis, printmaker Laura Maze, encaustic painter Bernie Park, mixed media pieces from Christine Saari, and photography from Bob Samson and Bill Sampson.

In addition to the reception, an Artist Level Class on encaustic painting with Bernie Park took place on Saturday, April 4, from noon to 4 p.m. A Gallery Walk featuring Blixt will be held on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m., with a potluck preceding it at 6 p.m.

There is no charge to visit the Gallery, where exhibits are sponsored in part by funds from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, or for the Gallery Walk. For more information, call 786-3833.
