Harry Potter, a worldwide book phenomenon selling more than 500 million copies, is turning 20 this year and the Bonifas celebrated with their “Night of Magic and Wizardry”. The Bonifas was transformed Saturday night into The Bonifas School of Magic and Wizardry. Just in time for Halloween, there was plenty of fun and magic for the witches and wizards among us.
Young wizards and muggles alike meandered through the Bonifas and learned to create a magical potion in potion class, fight off evil spells, and hunt for clues in the Wizard Scavenger Hunt. The event had a traditional feast in the Grand Hall, a cash bar, and a myriad of magical activities that entertained for the entire evening.
“It was a great night for kids and adults,” Event Coordinator Staci Berg said.
Harry Potter was originally published in 1997 and exploded in popularity as children, teens, and adults alike devoured the stories of a boy who triumphed against all odds with the help of his friends. A story that takes place in a quirky and magical world, the books continue to fly off shelves and have been made into 8 films which have their own prequel spin-off series. There are whole books, blogs, websites, and conventions dedicated to these books and their popularity does not seem to be slowing down! Come and help us honor Harry Potter with this fun fundraiser for the Bonifas.
