The Bay Area Art Association originally formed as a collection of art guilds and is now working to serve the community and encourage local artists through several annual programs.

The association offers art scholarships, presents a membership show in the Bonifas gallery each May, and plans artist gatherings to share ideas and promote artistic growth. Volunteers from the Bay Area Art Association organize the juried Waterfront Art Festival in Ludington Park in Escanaba on the first Saturday of August each summer, which attracts 2,000 visitors and over 70 exhibiting artists.

The Bay Area Art Association is open to all artists and art enthusiasts. For information or to become a member, call president Rose Peltier at 786-9167.

International Folk Dancers
Join the Bay de Noc International Folk Dancers on the 2nd and 4th Mondays in the Bonifas Studio from September to May, 7:00-9:00 pm, for a fun evening of dancing from around the world. New dancers are welcome, no experience is necessary and no partner is needed. New dances with instruction are added periodically to keep things interesting. Most dances are non-partner line and circle dances particularly from the Balkan countries, usually taught by Sue Robishaw.
The group is open to anyone interested in learning and dancing a variety of folk dances. There is no formal membership, just come and join in the fun and exercise of dancing in a group. Wear cool, comfortable clothing and non-marking shoes that are not too "grippy" (worn athletic shoes usually work well). A small nightly donation is requested to cover expenses. For more information call Marc Tall at 786-4798.

Art News Fall 2011:
The men of the Remnants Barbershop Chorus are extremely busy putting final touches on the annual Harvest of Harmony ’11, set for Saturday, October 1, at 7 p.m., at the Escanaba Middle School. Besides learning new songs for the show, members have been selling tickets, soliciting sponsors, and finding volunteers to help with back-stage tasks. You can be part of the expected full house by getting your tickets now from your local Remnants or UP Town Girls member.

Headlining the show is the 2007 International Champion Quartet Max Q, barbershop veterans who are as well known for their humor as their harmony. The Remnants Chorus and The Next Generation Quartet will also perform that evening, as will our friends the UP Town Girls. Erika and Emily Cretens, the 19 year-old twins from Gladstone who sang the National Anthem at Lambeau Field before the Family Night game a few weeks ago, will open for us.
