5th Annual Public Art Competition
The Bonifas Fine Arts Center, with the generous support from a private donor, wishes to make art accessible to the community of Delta County through this annual competition.
We are looking for Upper Peninsula artists to design, create and install a piece of outdoor artwork. Art work could include, but is not limited to, sculpture, ceramics, tiles, mosaics, self-contained fountains, or other flights of creative fancy. Art work must be designed for the outdoors and able to withstand the elements.
This is a great opportunity to design a piece that celebrates or is reflective of the arts.

The selected artist will receive $5,000 for the design, creation and installation of the piece. Please give us a call at the Arts Center if you are interested, 786-3833.

Youth In Art (YIA) Exhibit - March 7 - April 18th
It’s nearly time for Youth In Art at the Bonifas Arts Center, that explosive annual celebration of art from students in grades K through 12. “Student submissions are due by 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 16,” said Pasqua Warstler, Gallery and Education Director for the Center. Art is selected by the art teachers during the year, but students are allowed to enter works on their own as well. “If you’re home-schooling, or not in an art class, we still are interested in your work,” Warstler said. Students may submit up to three works in any media. A submission form is available at the Arts Center or online at bonifasarts.org. (see below)
The Youth In Art exhibit is sponsored annually by NewPage, and features awards from the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District, Escanaba Noon Kiwanis, the Escanaba Chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, NewPage, and the Arts Center. There is no fee to enter works in the show, which runs March 7 through April 18. Guided tours are available by arrangement from March 20 through April 18.
For more information visit bonifasarts.org or call (906) 786-3833.

Bonifas Membership Show - May 10 - June 13, 2013
Founded in 1971 by local artists, the Bay Area Art Association (BAAA) provided members with a place to meet to learn, and to exhibit their artwork. Working together they formed a supportive environment for their creativity and continued growth. Over the course of more than 41 years, the membership enriched the community with art festivals, guilds, and art exhibits. With the dissolution last year of BAAA, the Bonifas Arts Center has agreed to carry on the mission of the annual Membership Show. Now, as the Bonifas Membership Show, the Arts Center is pleased to continue the tradition of showcasing artwork by Arts Center member artists, both emerging and established, in a non-juried, annual exhibit.
The Bonifas Membership Show is open to all artists age 18 or older who are current members of the Arts Center. All work must be the artists’ own design and original in concept and execution. Only original works may be submitted. Works in any medium, traditional or experimental, qualify for entry. There are no size limitations.
The Barb Symon Scholarship Application (located below) deadline has been extended to June 10, 2013.
