Music Mondays have been a tremendous success this year. More and more people are spending time in Ludington Park on Monday nights for great entertainment. And it’s been a great opportunity for the musicians to play in the park.
There have been five bands so far including the Phil Lynch Quartet shown in the photos above. The band Speedy Beef performs in the video below.
The series ends Monday, Aug. 6 with the band Cadillacs. Pasqua Warstler with the Bonifas Arts Center says it’s a great way to end the season.
“Everybody loves them. We are out dancing,” Warstler said. “Beach balls are flying, kids are doing cartwheels, I mean, you don’t want to miss it, even to watch the crowd. Great music, always, from the Cadillacs.”
Music Mondays is a community effort. Warstler says she appreciates the interest and support that the music series gets. She said it’s important to build those partnerships.
“I love the Music Mondays because the arts works with the city to present it. I’m a community builder. So the Bonifas is working with the city on a grant that brings in state funds. That is a winning formula,” she said.
State funding comes from the Michigan Council for the Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Central U.P. Planning & Development Regional Commission (CUPPAD). It is also support locally by the City of Escanaba, Sayklly’s Confectionery & Gifts, Patrick Lindow of Edward Jones Investments, EMP, Marie Theoret, Ray and Peg Hirvonen Foundation, and William and Diane Bennett.
