Raqs sharqi or “Dance of the East” is what we commonly refer to as “belly dancing”. While belly dancing is based on movements that come naturally to the female form, it provides a wealth of healthful benefits. Belly dancing improves balance, reduces stress to the back by improving overall toning, and is considered a weight bearing exercise.
Come experience the benefits and have fun learning basic belly dance moves that will have you in fluid motion and putting together a routine by the end of the session. Instructor Jeana Harmon is a certified teacher who has been teaching belly dance for the past three years. She has taught adult health and exercise at Bay College and has been teaching exercise for over 30 years.
