Thank you for the feedback! Fifty-six people responded to our survey and here’s what we learned.
Creativity is Important
Eighty-five percent of respondents said that being creative, artistic, or expressing one’s culture in everyday life is somewhat or very important to them.
Why Visit the Bonifas?
The top three reasons were: 1.) to experience something creative, artistic, or cultural; 2.) to see a specific performance, performer, artwork, or exhibit; and 3.) to spend quality time with family, friends, or engage with or connect to my community.
How to Experience “The Arts”?
Interestingly, there were equal numbers of folks’ preferences for the kind of arts experience they want – about one third want to quietly experience and absorb what they saw, heard or did; another third prefer to experience and interact with the people they came with; and the last third pre-fer actively engaging in the experience (talk, do, act in some way). And, happily, 90% thought that the Boni-fas was effective or very effective in providing the kind of experience they prefer and they want to experience something more.
What this means to the Bonifas is that we need to stay on course, continuing to provide exhibits, clas-ses, and performances that you can experience how-ever you choose. Regardless of how you prefer to take in the creative or express yourself, the Bonifas is here for you.
This summer the Bonifas will offer you many opportu-nities to experience the arts your way. Do you like to experience them with friends and family or be enter-tained? Consider our upcoming concerts. Music Mondays begin June 24 in Ludington Park at 7 pm. The Waterfront Arts Festival is Saturday, August 3, from 10 am – 4 pm. Both are great ways to share the arts with your friends and family.
Do you prefer a hands-on experience? Consider taking a class or working with Players de Noc – on or off stage. Players has announced their new season on their website, playersdenoc.org, and Facebook page. Auditions for the first show will be in late August or early September. Bonifas classes this summer include a fun and fanciful outdoor class making Fairy Houses on June 21 at 6 pm and you can improve your smartphone photography skills with one of our photography workshops on July 16 – 17.
