Spend the day in the studio experimenting with Kellner’s style of abstraction. Focusing on the natural elements found in the landscape; textures, shapes, and colors, learn how to suggest a sense of place and time.
Through artist demonstration and samples of work in progress, Kellner will share his brush mark techniques that build the layers of painting that help him achieve an evocative balance between realism and abstraction and veiled, atmospheric light. Using wet wash techniques and raw canvas, Kellner adds visual expression to the painting. Students will be working on multiple painting surfaces, encouraging experimentation and enough drying time for the additional build-up of layers. Canvas panels will be provided. Student to bring own acrylics, brushes and palette knives. Supply list available.
