Croon Me A Tune Cabaret

We had a Babes Do the Blues Cabaret, and now it's time to give the guys their turn. Come on in and enjoy every minute, every lush note. Performers include Mark Ammel, Joe Archey, Jimmy Bruce, David Hopp, Keith Hallett, Phil Lynch, Harold Olson, the U.P. Express, and Robert Williams. It will be the perfect antidote to Hunting Season!
Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

Songwriters' Evening!

Don't miss this potpourri of original music, brought to you from the Southeastern corner of Michigan where Americana artist Jamie-Sue Seal has assembled this quartet of fine writers. Jamie-Sue plays country-folk-blues. John Latini describes his music as folk-rock-blues. Siusan O'Rourke writes original ballads; her partner in Stonecross, Zig Zeitler, writes instrumentals for bouzouki and other instruments.

So come on down! Your $15 ticket ($12 in advance at the Center or Gust Asp) entitles you to some of the finest acoustic music in the area, smoke-free, at the perfect time to relax after Thanksgiving.

     The cool music of White Water is as much a part of the U.P. as a trout stream, bringing upbeat traditional acoustic music to the Bonifas theater. Toes will be tapping as Dean, Bette and Laurel Premo share their love of harmony in a concert with guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and hammered dulcimer accompaniment. Check out Emily Hurd's web site for an example of this Chicago musician's fine vocals, keyboards, and songwriting; then come and join us for an evening of great entertainment! Opening act is Augie and Almudena - fine guitar and mellow vocals. Just $15 in our air-conditioned theater.                

The 2nd Annual “Big Bang” Benefit Shoot for the Arts
Saturday, July 19, 2008; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We'll be at Black Duck Sporting Clays in Rapid River all day. You can win great prizes, from guns to art and meals out, buy food on the grounds, and enjoy our U.P. summer! Even if you haven’t shot before, this is a great opportunity to learn how; they have guns and ammo on site and a very helpful and fun staff. Mollie and Beth have been practicing and are looking forward to an even bigger crowd than last year. Shoot for the arts before or after that date by telling Black Duck you're shooting for us. Sorry, only early shooters (or day-of shooters) are entered into the prize drawing.
