The Bonifas Arts Center would like to delight your taste buds with a variety of craft beers, yummy food and some great music at the first-ever Flannel Fest, coming to the Bonifas on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The event will feature a best-dressed flannel contest, Bonifas Special Events Coordinator Staci Berg noted, which can include flannel shirts, pants, or more creative flannel outfits, such as full-on flannel gowns. Prizes will be awarded for the best flannel outfit. There will also be ice shanty races! An ice shanty can be purchased by an individual or a group and a game of chance will determine who will win the race.
The event was inspired by the honor given to the U.P. as a whole as the first place winner in the “Most Flannel City in America” Contest, sponsored by the Duluth Trading Company.
EVENT: Flannel Fest
“The Duluth Trading Company grouped the U.P. as a whole because of our sparse population in relation to some of the larger cities that were in the running for the honor,” Berg explained. “In honor of our title of Most Flannel City in America, we are kicking off our first-ever Flannel Fest, and what we hope to become an annual festival for our community. We are going to have wonderful food by Chef Mark Ammel, craft beer and music by the popular local band “Sit Down Francis.”
Cost for the event is $25 per person, which includes two craft beers, food and live music at the event. Additional beer will be available for purchase. In addition, there will be a bucket raffle and a 50/50 drawing.
“People are encouraged to come down to the Bonifas and have a great time drinking beer, eating yummy food, wearing flannel, and listening to live music,” Berg smiled. “We love our summer events; following in the theme of our summer festivals, it’s also great to have similar events in the winter months.”
