It sometimes seems that February is the longest month of the year in the Upper Peninsula. Bonifas Fine Arts Center Gallery and Education Director Pasqua Warstler reminds area residents that the Art for Everyone Discovery Series of classes for teens and adults of all abilities offers opportunities to learn new skills or brush up old ones.
Classes beginning in February and March can teach you to crochet with beads, or make yourself a Do Drop Bracelet. Fascinated with glass? Try Glass Fusing for Beginners and make yourself a picture frame.

Watercolor

Watercolors come in all types, and three very different artists will lead sessions in the Watercolor: Beginner – Intermediate classes. Join John Gustafson, Sharon Fosmo, and Suzy Decker for this class.

Adobe Photoshop

An artist-level demonstration of Adobe PhotoShop is also open to the public, and an artist-level workshop on Creating a Personal Mandala will be presented with Ohio’s Philip Sugden in March.

Open Studio

Open Studio Thursdays continue in February and run through April 28 in the upper studio from 6 to 9 p.m. These sessions offer artists a common studio space and interaction with peers. Participants must be current Bonifas members.

Super Saturdays

Super Saturdays (the first Saturday of February, March and April) and Music With Your Children classes on February 19 and 26 offer families an opportunity to complete a variety of art projects or enjoy musical activities together.
And as a calming yet stimulating activity, treat yourself to a Tai Chi class!

Examples of class products are on display at the Arts Center, 7th Street and 1st Avenue South in Escanaba. Materials are included in fees unless noted. For more information or to obtain a class flyer, call the Bonifas at (906) 786-3833 or stop in at 700 1st Avenue South in Escanaba.
