Pasqua Warstler, executive and gallery director at the Bonifas Arts Center in Escanaba, says the response far exceeded what they hoped to accomplish in the first year with a U.P. venue at ArtPrize.
“It’s great to see that artists in the Upper Peninsula have such an interest to show their work in an international setting while representing the U.P.,” Warslter said.
About 20 will be selected to be displayed at the U.P. Pavilion at DeVos Place.
There are still steps that those who signed up for ArtPrize must still do. All U.P. artists who have submitted to ArtPrize must:
1) copy the Bonifas Arts Center at firstname.lastname@example.org and
2) complete the registration process by selecting their venue, DeVos Place. They may select their venue, beginning Monday, April 25, at Noon by returning to the ArtPrze website at www.artprize.org and logging in.
DeVos Place plans to jury next week. Artists need to finish select their venue ASAP to be considered for the U.P. Pavilion.
Good luck artists!
ArtPrize is an open international art competition decided by public vote and expert jury that takes place each fall in Grand Rapids. September 21 through October 9, art entries from all over the world will cover three square miles of downtown Grand Rapids.
