Barn Quilts

Instructor: Mary Felton-Kolstad Date: Wednesday, October 9, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Visiting artist Mary Felton-Kolstad hosts a workshop to help you create and paint your own Barn Quilt to make your barn or shed look unique. Paint a wooden 2x2 plaque in a quilted pattern, meet new friends and learn new skills. Please print your pattern or graph (instructions are attached to the registration form – all supplies are provided). PATTERNS must be sent a week ahead of time for the artists to have time to draw. The pattern should include a border (if it shows one on the pattern) and/or special background colors i.e. Instead of white. Bring a box lunch – water and coffee provided. Arthritis Exercise Class

Instructor: Betty Wagner Dates: Wednesdays, 9:15 – 10 a.m., Starting October 2, weekly through May, skips holidays Exercise your whole body and work on joint flexibility and muscle strength from head to toe while seated! For those who are able we will work on balance while standing. Move to the steady rhythms from the 40s and 50s and enjoy the benefits - both uplifting and relaxing! Exercise teacher with almost 50 years, Betty Wagner had taught gym, aerobics, senior exercise and dancing and is familiar face to many at the Escanaba and Bark River Senior Centers, Bonifas Arts Center and YMCA. Tahitian Style Workout

Ashtanga Yoga with Heather Bruss

Instructor: Heather Bruss Dates: Mondays, October 7, 14, 21, 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Yoga provides a great way to strengthen and tone muscles, and increase flexibility. Studies by the National Institute of Health have proven the effectiveness of yoga for mental alertness, stress relief and increased immune system function. Students will learn how to synchronize breath with standing postures and increase the benefits of their workout. Using the same sequence each time, improvements are easy to see. With this repetition, the Ashtanga practice itself becomes meditative. 4H Spin: Kid’s Culinary Classes at EUE

Instructors: Dave Radloff, Stephanie Ostrenga, Irina Bruno Dates: 6 classes, Tuesdays, Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, Nov. 5, 12 after school Time: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Location: EUE Home economics kitchen The Bonifas Arts Center and 4-H SPIN Clubs are bringing back this popular program to help you raise your kids as enthusiastic cooks and healthy eaters. This year we are launching a new curriculum based on INTERNATIONAL CUISINE! Through foods, we will travel to Italy, Ethiopia, Russia, China, Poland and explore the Native American heritage. Integral parts of the program are basics of nutrition, kitchen tools and techniques, hands on food preparation, food safety, presentation and use of utensils. Each class will include the tasting of the prepared meal while practicing table manners. Kids from all local schools are welcome – this is a great after school program with built in snack and fun learning!
