Missoula Children’s Theatre is a world renowned children’s theatre company based in Missoula, Montana, and has been touring for more than 35 years. This year’s performance of Missoula Children’s Theatre will be Gulliver’s Travels. A team of two professional tour actor/directors will arrive in Escanaba with scenery, costumes, props, make-up and basic lighting – everything it takes to put on a play….except the cast. The residency begins with an audition. 50-60 students, grades 1-12 are cast and well-rehearsed throughout the week, learning lines, songs and choreography that will culminate into an original, musical production. Assistant Directors are also cast to aid in rehearsals and take on essential backstage responsibilities. GULLIVER’S TRAVEL With his ship wrecked and his trusty computer JCN on the fritz, brave explorer Gulliver finds himself lost in space with nothing but an invisible force to guide him! While transporting from world to world, under the control of the Maniacal Scientist of Lapunta, Gulliver discovers fighting aliens, arrogant Horse Leaders of the foolish Yahoos, larger-than-life royalty (in more ways than one) and robots - all who need just as much help from Gulliver as Gulliver needs from them! Tune in as this sci-fi spin of the timeless tale of GULLIVER’S TRAVELS will take you out-of-this world! Free to students Grades K - 12. Missoula Workshops

Free to students grades K - 12 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13: Acting - Grades K - 3 The basic tools of an actor’s trade - observation, memorization, concentration, and imagination are presented and explored in an entertaining manner. Wednesday, June 14: Let’s Make Up - Grades 4 - 7 Makeup is the foundation and most basic visual image for all performers. This workshop demonstrates corrective, character and special effects makeup for the theatre. Note: This is not a “face painting” experience. Thursday, June 15: Improv - Grades 8 - 12 Participation and teamwork are emphasized as the students learn to act without a script. Fun for all skill levels of students from beginners to more experienced performers!

Three workshops are included during the Missoula Children's Theater in June. Workshops last approximately 45 minutes. The kids ages groups are as following: 1. Tuesday, 3 to 4pm: Improv – 8-12 grades 2. Wednesday, 3 to 4 pm: Acting, 6-8 grades 3. Thursday, 3 to 4 pm: Drama Quest, 3-5 grades Improv Participation and teamwork are emphasized as the students learn to act without a script. This workshop can be geared to all skill levels of students from beginners to more experienced performers. Acting The basic tools of an actor’s trade - observation, memorization, concentration, and imagination are presented and explored in an entertaining manner. The students participate in a variety of fun exercises, learning to apply the actor’s tools to both performing and everyday life. Drama Quest A grand adventure through a jungle awaits! Using active and energetic role-playing in a dynamic group setting, students will develop problem-solving skills by engaging their communication and imagination skills. Your students will have so much fun - they won’t realize that they’re learning!

A young princess named Show White finds herself in peril when her step-mother, the Queen, is told by her Magic Mirror that the princess is fairer than she! Aided by her two Henchmen and a band of evil Bats, the Queen plots to get rid of Snow White. Snow White escapes from the Queen and from the Black Forest Creatures with help from Witless the Woodsman, and finds a home with the Seven Dwarfs. When the Queen learns of Snow White’s whereabouts, she attempts to poison Snow White. But, the Queen’s evil plans are thwarted when Snow White’s fearless Forest Friends, her father King Backwards, the Seven Dwarfs and the Prince come to her rescue. Student fee: FREE Ages: K – 12 grade

Missoula week will be June 17-22, auditions at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17 at the Bonifas theater for students entering 1st through 12th grades. About 50 to 60 students are needed. This year's production is "Peter and Wendy." The Missoula Children's Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play...except the cast. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented on Saturday.
